Scones made at home

Whats better than a fresh coffee in the morning ? Right, coffee and a home baked scone.

Its so easy to make and there a great mixes out there,
it takes literally only 15 minutes and I love it. First the whole house smells nice, second its cosy warm in the kitchen.

I guess this becomes soon now a weekly ritual :-)

Recipe: Mackerel Spread

To be a old fisherman isnt easy, and sometimes I am luckily faced with a problem. To much fish to eat.

So here comes a new recipe, for Mackerel bread spread which can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days and tastes very very good.

Ingredients:
1 mackerel smoked
1 onion
6 tablespoons lemon juice
7 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons chives in rolls
   pepper

Finely chop onion, than take the Mackerel meat with 2 forks, break it up into fine parts , stir in lemon juice and mayo and mix it into a smooth cream. Add onions and chives, mix, season to taste with pepper and salt.

Best served on a bit of toast with some butter.
Enjoy !

Future of facebook

I was pretty annoyed the recent days that everybody complained on face book about the changes they introduced. And yet the biggest change was not yet released. a new profile called time line. I checked out the developer preview and have to say it doest look to bad for me.

I just wonder how many more people will complain once this is rolled out to all ?

Review: Real French Cuisine

Last Holiday I could for the first time discover what is real French cuisine. Where is the best place to have the real thing, of course in the country side of France. I went o the "Post Restaurant" (Restaurant de la poste) in Montréjeau, France.

The owner was very nice, they didn't had a English menu but i didn't care, thats the way it should be. If I would want a English menu in a French restaurant, I should go to McDonald's.

So I had simple food the owner could explain me with is basic English. Some "Quark Quark" / frog legs as a starter, and a Muh Muh / veal as a main.

It was gorgeous, I still don't understand why its so hard to find veal at a butcher in Ireland,
but hey,
C'est la vie !

Thanks again to the nice staff of the Restaurant de la poste, you earned a 5 Star rating from me !

I have previous published a camping checklist

Now, well might be a bit late for some people, but if you are just going on holiday, here a great checklist.

I also use that list for business travel since the main things to check are the same.

Super value @ SuperValue

Somebody might think i get paid for this post, nope I don't. But I thought since I reported earlier this year about my great local butcher, its just fair to mention a supermarket I like to go shopping to as well.

Look at this picture, they got a nice offer recently, 7,50 Euro for that much meat, isnt that great ?
And since we are 2 people at home, we can actually eat 4 times. (2x dinner and than lunch for work)

Considering that the cabbage was growing in my own garden, we spend less than 2 Euro for each meal.
Thats half the price than i would pay for a sandwich at work, isn't that great value ?

Not just that, its pretty tasty this Irish Cuisine !

Recipe: Clonlin's Poor man's Sandwich / Toast

Well I am not exactly a poor man, i actually consider myself as very rich, but not because of money, but the family and friends I got.
However, there is times in life you need to save money, in my case I wanted to save up for a holiday deluxe.
It order to save, you need to cut spendings, and since I don't smoke anymore a good way to save is on grocery shopping.
So instead of a tasty steak, I cook more often a tasty sandwich. Here on of my recipes:

Ingredients:
2 Sausages,
2 Slices of white bread
2 eggs
1 Onion
Spices like curry, tomato paste, salt,pepper,...

Chop the Onion into very small pieces, mix it with the raw eggs and spices, than put the slices of white bread into that bowl and let it soak in. Fry it in a pan until the onion is golden and the egg cooked.
Serve that with a bit of ketchup or self made mayonnaise.
Enjoy !

You are as old as you feel

Thats something we hear often, but really good illustrated i have never seen that saying. Until now. Through a friend on G+ I found the website of Photographer Tom Hussey.

Its amazing how he portraits the people looking at themselves in a mirror, and see a younger picture of them.

I wonder if i really might see that once myself when i am older ?
